Coffee Protein Smoothie

Can we talk about coffee? All I have to say is... don't try to take it away from me or we could have a problem! Even before I was old enough to drink a cup of joe, I was ordering coffee flavored foods or more like desserts. Coffee ice cream cones and coffee sodas were my faves (I am dating myself here if you don't know what a coffee soda is!) -- anyway -- you get my point. I love coffee! If you are like me in the coffee department, you will love this coffee protein smoothie. I make this while I am drinking my first cup of dark roast hot coffee. Super easy to make and then take with you to work or to sip as a breakfast or midday snack. Dial up or down the carbohydrate load here depending on your energy needs. For example, you can add more banana, or just use half a banana or perhaps no banana. This smoothie checks all the boxes... metabolically efficient, gluten free, grain free, dairy free, no nuts and vegan.
Prep time is 5 minutes Makes 1 serving Here's how to do it: Ingredients - 1 cup of coffee - 1 Scoop Vanilla Plant-based Protein Powder (I use Thorne VegaLite) - 1 Banana (small) - 1 tablespoon Flaxseed Meal (I use Bob's Red Mill) - 1 handful ice cubes - Daily vitamins (optional)
Instructions
Combine in a blender the ice, flaxseed meal, coffee, protein powder, banana and vitamins (if capsule form I open up capsule, drop in powder and discard the casing).
Blend thoroughly.
Pour into cup and ENJOY!
