About

Caroline Kavanagh is the founder of InsideOut and a high performing athlete since her early teens. Her first sport of choice was field hockey.

After a long career of working in the fast-paced world of graphic design her love of sport came back around in the form of triathlon training and racing.

The competitive drive took hold once again and metabolic efficiency training came into play. Realizing she needed to drop five pounds to run faster on the track, Caroline read Bob Seebohar's book on metabolic efficiency training. Applying the principles on herself...
the extra pounds simply dropped off!

Inspired by the results, coupled with the desire to help others do the same, a new career path unfolded in sport nutrition.

RED CANOE

Principal and CoFounder of Design Studio
August 1997 – January 2007

Escaping the urban setting of NYC after eleven years of working and living there, Caroline co-founded Red Canoe. Established as a "quirky outpost" in the middle of 350 acres of Tennessee wilderness. Red Canoe established itself with dual reverence for the big concept as well as the minutiae. Clean logic being the goal of each and every project from the literary, to multifaceted branding programs for a diverse range of clients. Barnes & Noble and Chronicle Books to name a few.

To view a few Red Canoe design pieces follow the link below to the AIGA Design Archives. Then type in Red Canoe or Caroline Kavanagh in the "Search" field.

Included in this resource are more than 20,000 selections from AIGA's annual juried design competitions dating from 1924 through the present. In addition, it features special collections of major American design firms and practitioners whose design accomplishments might otherwise not be preserved online or made available to the public.

The collection is expected to grow by approximately 300 selections a year. A number of the physical artifacts in the collections are available for research and study at the AIGA Archives at the Denver Art Museum in Colorado and the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Columbia University's Butler Library in New York. Red Canoe's book and template design titled, City Secrets Rome is also housed in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Columbia.
