Epic Meaty Snacks

FINALLY A TRUE PROTIEN BAR that is not disguised as a sneaky carbohydrate load, but in fact the perfect 1:1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein. I happened across these bars and bites on my last visit to Whole Foods. I saw the bites first displayed along side the beef jerky. The packaging is fabulous so it caught it my eye. Then I saw they also had snack bars. Bingo!

I checked out the ingredients list on the Bison bars and first up was Natural Bison (makes sense ; ) then uncured bacon with no nitrites or nitrates added (just pork, water, sea salt, vinegar, celery powder), golden raisins and chia seeds. Fabulous! What is not to like with these ingredients? Well, I suppose the combination could taste terrible but I bought all four flavors... bison, lamb, turkey and beef to give them a try.

I am no connoisseur of bison meat but these taste yummy! Great add-ins with the bacon and chia seeds. Not to mention that the meats are grass-fed or all natural. No gluten or any added sugar so a nice blood stablizing snack no matter how you cut it. The beef flavor has a kick to it with added red pepper flakes.

What a great solution for those in between meal snacks or just after a workout to get in a little protein with a handy bar size that you can toss into your gym bag or a coat pocket in a jiffy.

Check out the Bites too as these come in a resealable package so you can add them to salads for protein or just eat them straight out of the bag.

From a nutritional standpoint, grass-fed animals have higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, which contain anti-inflammatory properties. As well as significantly higher values of vitamin E and A and antioxidants.

For athetes, grass-fed meat is favorable as it contains higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA, which promotes development of lean muscle tissue and lowers risk for other health issues.

I am so excited to have found these tasty, meaty snacks! I thought I would pass on my good findings! You can buy them at Whole Foods, online through Amazon or on the Epic website at epicbar.com
